This activity will assess the GHG emissions mitigation potential to 2050 of bioenergy with CCS (BECCS) using residual biomass and include a review/updating of past residual biomass resources and construction of future projections. BECCS technology options will be examined with a focus on matching feedstocks to technologies. Techno-economic and life cycle assessments will be used to identify the economic potential and associated life cycle environmental impacts. Effectiveness of greenhouse gas mitigation of BECCS pathways will be studied and uncertainty in these projections explicitly characterized.
