DANIEL POSEN
Daniel Posen is an expert on system-scale environmental sustainability of technologies and an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering. Daniel is the Canada Research Chair in system-scale environmental impact of energy and transport technologies. Leveraging training in multiple academic disciplines, he leads a research program that is grounded in engineering while drawing heavily on natural science, economics and public policy. His work employs quantitative analysis to support environmentally motivated decisions, with a particular focus on greenhouse gas mitigation strategies related to energy, fuels, chemicals and transportation systems. He has served as a Technical Advisor for the life cycle assessment model developed for the Canadian Clean fuel Standard, and as a contributing author in Working Group III (WGIII) of the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
